Fishing & Living Sustainability Workshop Conducted for the Fisheries High School, SUPM, Bone, South Sulawesi

DSC_0616The Fishing & Living staff and 3 newly trained enumerators hosted a workshop to 30 fishery focused high school students and 10 of their teachers and advisers in Bone.

The workshop covered the immense biodiversity of the Indonesian environment, the open access system to the fisheries which has a high probability of leading to a ‘tragedy of the commons’ situation, the barriers to sustainability and then the possibilities which exist to overcome the impending situation. MSC certification, involvement in fisheries improvement programs, community awareness programs and capacity building were all discussed as possible options towards sustainability, firstly in Bone and secondly in Indonesia.
